Cobb Alert Net

Greetings! CAN was created in 2017 by members of the Cobb Area Council’s communications committee, primarily as an early alert system and situational awareness source, and secondarily as a back-up communications system in the event of a local fire emergency. We practice every Wednesday at 6:30pm with an Alert Test and Net Check-In (early check-ins in many neighborhoods begin about 6pm.)
Explore the site and email CobbAlertNet@gmail with questions.

“HOW DO I JOIN?” YOU ASK…

1. Get a programmed $10-$15 FRS radio like the one above by emailing CobbAlertNet@gmail.com* or a $25-65 GMRS radio online*.

2. Email cobbalertnet@gmail.com with your name, address (or intersection) tel (optional) an email address to get a Neighborhood ID and added to mailing list.

3. Listen on C.A.N. MAIN channel, and if too much chit-chat, switch to Alerts Only channel.

4. Ask for a radio check anytime to see if yoiu can be heard (on MAIN) by saying “Radio Check” and “Your ID” and listen for responses. Wednesday evening after the alert test at 6:30pm to discover who hears you! (early check-ins also occur in some groups throughout the day…especially after 6pm. Directions on MAIN.)

* You must get a 10-year $35 GMRS license before getting this radio programmed by CAN and transmitting.
